ABOUT

Maya Russell is an emerging singer, songwriter and music producer from South London, bringing a fresh and imaginative perspective to contemporary music.

Refusing to be confined by a single genre, Maya's creative approach draws inspiration from an eclectic mix of sounds, including R&B, jazz, hip-hop, Afro-influenced music and the experimental nature of Japanese popular music. Her fascination with the way different musical styles can be reimagined and blended shapes her ambition to develop a sound that is uniquely her own.

A self-taught creative, Maya began producing music using GarageBand and is now expanding her production skills through Logic Pro. From songwriting and composition to production and visual concepts, she takes an active role in shaping her artistic identity.

At the heart of Maya's songwriting is a love of storytelling, poetry and layered meaning. Rather than offering straightforward narratives, she creates music that invites listeners to interpret emotions, explore different perspectives and discover their own connections within the lyrics.

Her creativity extends beyond music into visual art, painting and artistic direction, with a particular interest in developing imagery that reflects the themes and atmosphere of her work.

For Maya, artistry is not about fitting into a predetermined identity, but embracing the freedom to evolve, experiment and discover new possibilities.

As one of the youngest emerging artists on the Mirror Music Media roster, Maya represents a new generation of independent creatives: curious, imaginative and unafraid to challenge convention.

Her journey is only beginning, and her sound is hers to discover.
